Welcome to The International Coalition of Art Deco Societies (ICADS)

The 12th World Congress on Art Deco in Havana was glowing success thanks to the hard work of Gustavo López, General Coordinator and Geo Darder and their team. About 250 delegates from 16 nations attended. It was wonderful to see so many old friends and meet so many new ones.

The large amount of publicity generated from the Congress not only high-lighted Cuban Art Deco, but worldwide Art Deco. This sensitization might have helped lead the way to the Commercial and Community Centre in Estèrel, Quebec being classified by the Quebec Government. At the Congress Jean Damecour presented a paper on the Centre, also additional interest was sparked by a circulated petition.

Presently we are working on the paperwork to give official status to the ICADS as an international, nonprofit organization. When this is competed we will be in a much better position to move forward. It will give us the opportunity to set up a PayPal account by which all membership fees can easily be paid.

We are now awaiting final word on the date for 13th World Congress on Art Deco, which will take place in Shanghai in 2015. In 2017 the Congress will take place in Cleveland. We are now inviting applications for the 15th World Congress on Art Deco which will take place in 2019. The location of the 15th World Congress on Art Deco will be voted on and ratified at the Shanghai Congress.

As Marcio Roiter withdrew from being the facilitator for  the next Congress, at the ICADS General Meeting in Shanghai it was voted that I should stay on as Facilitator until the next Congress. This position is generally rewarded to the Art Deco group that two years prior hosted the World Congress on Art Deco.

We continue to look forward to receiving alerts and notices to email to all ICADS members and place on our website.

Archival material of former Art Deco World Congresses is being assembled to be included on the web site, or linked to where it can be found. If you have material that can be added to our archives could you kindly let us know.

Suggestions for this website are most welcome.

Until we see you in Shanghai, we hope to keep you informed and up-to-date on Deco happenings around the world.

Warmest regards,

Sandra Cohen-Rose
